Plenty of relief cash has been put in the tin cup by golfers, from the mega to the local. Added to generous donations from prime swingers Ryo Ishikawa (all his 2011 prize money) and Ryuji Imada ($1,000 for every birdie), Korean K. J. Choi ($100,000) and Japan’s LPGA Tour (3% of all prize money), there is a smaller drive going on to raise some green locally. On May 21 the EU Japan Friendship Week Golf Tournament, hosted by the Delegation of the EU to Japan and supported by Takasaki City Local Government, will join the club; sending the funds they usually use for their post-tourney blowout to a quake-related charity.
