Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb

A flaccid cash grab

The 2006 Ben Stiller vehicle Night at the Museum offered the mildly amusing spectacle of all the exhibits at the American Museum of Natural History coming to life. It was pure multiplex fodder, but at least encouraged kid curiosity. The plodding 2009 sequel merely repurposed the same material.

The best thing I can say about this flaccid, London-based cash grab (aside from one amusing tweak on M.C. Escher’s “Relativity”), is that it’s the last one. One recurring gag is a pissing monkey. Go to a museum instead. Japanese title: Night Museum: Egypt Oh no Himitsu. (97 min)
