Pay the Ghost

But not the ticket price

Standard-issue would-be creeper about a boy vanishing from his father’s side during a Halloween parade. Dad doesn’t at first suspect that supernatural forces are at work, but we do because of the cheesy pre-abduction CGI visions we’ve shared with the kid, and then the word “ghost” is in the title. The most frightening thing in this boring haunted-house retread is watching Nicolas Cage in full desperate-dad mode dutifully recite the banal lines he’s given. This is not one of Cage’s most egregious wastes of his prodigious talents, but it’s close. Geez, Nic; Keanu could do this. (94 min)
