ABSTRACTION: The Genesis and Evolution of Abstract Painting

Jun 03, 2023 at 10:00am ~ Aug 20, 2023 at 6:00pm

“ABSTRACTION” traces artistic movements from the late nineteenth century through the 1960s. The exhibition begins with the free-spirited creativity of France’s Belle Époque, moving on to Fauvism, Cubism, and abstract painting. It further showcases how Abstraction, born from stylistic evolution, dynamically influenced 20th-century art worldwide, including in Japan. Displaying around 150 works from the Ishibashi Foundation Collection, 95 of them recent acquisitions, this exhibition highlights artistic developments in Europe, primarily France, as well as America and Japan. Ticket prices are ¥2000 for adults and free for students, with a ¥200 discount for online reservations.
