Asuka Anastacia Ogawa
Sep 23 at 10:00 am - Nov 7 at 6:00 pm
Asuka Anastacia Ogawa in her “Medicine girl” (2019) and “Lilly” (2019) exposed at Blum & Poe Tokyo, depicts androgynous children in chimerical dreamscapes, scenes formed from solid fields of color and flat picture planes. Her subjects have wide thin eyes that gaze forward, piercing the fourth wall. Her works are deeply personal as they combine her Japanese and Afro-Brazilian origins. She wants to leave the interpretation of these narratives open to her viewers but at the same time she guides them into a journey of mysticism, mythology, and ritual.
Blum & Poe Los Tokyo is open by appointment.
