Cinco de Mayo means 5th of May in Spanish. The day is to commemorate the Battle of Puebla, where a small team of Mexican fighters defeated a much larger French army, which at the time was considered the strongest in the world. Cinco de Mayo has grown especially popular in the United States, where all things Mexican are celebrated.

Cinco de Mayo in Japan, which started in 2013 in Yoyogi Park, will hold its 6th year of celebrations in Odaiba. It will showcase not just Mexico but music, dance and cuisine from many other countries in the western hemisphere. Known as one of the most “international” festivals in Japan, it is a great chance to enjoy fine food, drinks and interactive entertainment with friends and family.

Food
There will be plenty of delicious food from countries, such as Mexico, America, Peru, Brazil, Chile, Jamaica, Colombia, etc. Head on over to Odaiba May 12 (Sat) – May 13 (Sun) to try some of the best food the Americas has to offer. Enjoy tacos, burritos, anticuchos, quesadilla, empanada, jambalaya and much more!

Drinks
Drinks play a big part at Cinco de Mayo. Along with beer and wine, you can enjoy a wild variety of fine cocktails. Mainstays include margarita, mojito, pisco sour, pina colada, Cuban libre, caipirinha and other tropical cocktails. Of course, we also have a variety of drinks for those who do not drink alcohol. But do try to pace yourself!

Entertainment
Spend your spring weekend enjoying music and dance from Central and South America. Experience salsa, marinera, samba, zumba, jazz, rock and much more. Don’t worry if you’re not a dancer, there will be instructors to gently introduce you to the various regional dances. We even have activities for children, so come out ready to move your body!

Crafts, products and promotions
A celebration of the Americas is not complete without its typical crafts and unique products. Come enjoy the culture and a chance to buy these hard to find products!
