Congo Storybooks Exhibition by Yumiko Takabayashi

Jun 19, 2021 at 10:00 am - Jun 20, 2021 at 7:00 pm

Free

The exhibition by Yumiko Takabayashi brings the Congo closer to Japan through the art of storytelling. Having grown up in Japan her whole life, Yumiko was captivated by the culture and society of Congo. She brought her curiosity on paper and has illustrated various Congolese folktales to promote cultural permeability between Japan and Congo. The exhibition presents traditional tales in vivid water colors as well as her original piece, “Okapi and the Pursuit of Happiness” in collaboration with a Congolese native, Kilele Muzaliwa.

Open on weekends
