The National Ballet of Japan presents its rendition of an episode from Cervantes’ classic tale of Don Quixote at The New National Theatre. The love story of Basilio, the barber, and Kitri, a local girl, is brought to life through the juxtaposition of classic ballet and dynamic Spanish flare, set in Barcelona. Accompanied by The Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra performing Leon Minkus’ musical score, the corps de ballet scenes from Don Quixote’s dreams, whereafter he mistakes Kitri for Dulcinea, and the final pas de deux by the lovers are elevated.
