Once a month Drunk Poets invite anyone interested in mixing a cocktail of spoken word poetry, a well-stocked bar and an open mic to Drunk Poets See God. If you are interested in performing some of your own original material you can get in touch with the organizers, Sorcha Chisholm (Australia) and Samm Bennett (USA), through their Facebook page ahead of the night. If you’re not feeling quite that brave don’t worry, attending as an audience member is also encouraged as it’s stressed that anyone is welcome to this international, laid-back and creative night.
This month’s contributions will follow the theme “Never Too Old!”. Anyone can perform, regardless of age, experience or prior knowledge of poetry, and anyone can interpret the theme in whatever way they like. Most poems are in English but bi-lingual Japanese and English poems are also sometimes brought along. Entry is ¥1,000 at the door, which includes one drink and open/signup for 10-minute slots at 7 p.m.
