Eisei Bunko Museum Crowdfunding Project

Eisei Bunko is an art museum (public interest incorporated foundation) that holds cultural properties handed down from the Hosokawa clan, a daimyo with a history of 700 years .

The collection of more than 90,000 items includes 8 national treasures and 34 important cultural properties, and covers a wide range of items such as weapons, armor, calligraphy, sculpture, tea utensils, Noh tools, historical materials, and classical books. The collection includes works from a wide range of eras from BC to modern times.

These cultural properties have been carefully inherited, but over the years, many need treatment.

As an independently profitable museum which does not receive corporate support, Eisei Bunko is a rare entity in Japan. As a result, the closure of the museum due to the pandemic and the drastic reduction in admission fees have been a major blow, making it even more difficult to secure repair costs than before.

However, it cannot be overlooked that – at this rate – their works will suffer permanent damage with urgent repairs.

Therefore, for the first time, Eisei Bunko is asking for public support through crowdfunding. .

The first theme is “modern Japanese painting”.

Approximately 100 years after creation, Hishida Shunsou, Yokoyama Taikan and others would like to ask for your support in order to ensure the survival of these cultural masterpieces.
