Freedom Toast Café: “Taiwan recognizes same-sex marriage”

Aug 29, 2019 at 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

¥1,000

Want to discuss with like-minded people about human rights in English and meet new friends? Then come along to our Freedom Toast Café in Ochanomizu on Thursday, 29 August!

We have invited a special guest for this month’s Café. Suki Chung, Amnesty International Regional Campaign Coordinator for East Asia will join us via Skype and talk about LGBTI rights in Taiwan.

Taiwan has made history in the fight for equality for LGBTI people. In May 2019, Taiwan has passed a law to make the island become the first place in Asia to legalize same-sex marriage.

Let’s discuss together the impact of this law for Taiwan and the region and what we can do to protect the rights of LGBTI people in East Asia and Japan!

We will provide English-language support if you need it, plus complimentary snacks and drinks, to create a friendly, relaxed “pavement café” atmosphere. Learn about human rights, brush up your English, and connect with like-minded people!
