Sake Festival

Women’s Association for Japanese SAKE and WINE Lovers – Sake-jo – is commemorating its 2nd anniversary and will be hosting under the leadership of Akiko Tomoda an event titled The Greater Edo Tokyo Sake Festival – Feel the Spirit of“Iki” (粋). Tokyo’s Governor, Ms. Yuriko Koike, will join the opening ceremony.
This event offers a unique opportunity to taste the entire spectrum of Tokyo’s craft sake as well as shochu distilled on Tokyo’s islands. One can experience its pairing with local cuisines and the traditional glasswares made in Tokyo. The upcoming festival will also feature traditional music and performances from Tokyo including a mini talk-show about Edo food culture between Yukio Hattori, the “Iron Chef” alumni and celebrity food commentator and Seizo Mikuni the world famous chef and owner of Hotel de Mikuni. Additionally, there will be traditional performances of ancient court music by Gagaku players and Hachijo-daiko drumming from Hachijo Island. Other performances will include Koto, Shakuhachi and more…
