Kintsugi Workshop

Try your hand out at Kintsugi, the Japanese art of not simply repairing broken ceramics or pottery, but also of reinventing shattered pieces as a work of art using lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold or silver. This workshop by EAST WORKS welcomes beginners to ceramics who may be daunted by the technique. After the workshop, bring your finished piece to use at home. You’ll never toss out those broken plates again.
For the workshop, please bring your own broken pottery (or buy one at the studio for ¥500-¥1000), apron, box to place the finished piece in, and writing instruments.
Caution: Do not place the repaired ceramics or pottery in the microwave, oven, dish washer or freezer. Do not leave it in water or fire for an extended period of time. Do not wash it with a chemical cleanser nor use a scrubber.
