Odaiba is the only place in ocean-adjacent Tokyo where you can walk directly from the street to the shore, making it a fitting location for a Marine Day festival. This is a relatively new national holiday where the Japanese show deference to the sea that surrounds this island nation. Pink, blue, yellow and green lanterns will be strewn across Odaiba’s shores in celebration of the day. And with the multi-colored Ferris wheel piercing Odaiba’s skyline and the Rainbow Bridge stretching out from the mainland, this should be a pretty stunning spectacle and one of the best photo-ops this summer.
