Miura Kaigan is the small peninsula that starts at Kamakura and runs down to the small island on the tip called Misaki Jogashima. The cherry blossom (sakura) on the Miura peninsula are a variety known as Kawazu that flowers earlier than the average.
Because of this the cherry blossom festival starts from February 5th 2019 and runs until March 3rd 2019.
The 1km walk from Miura-kaigan station to Komatsugaike Park is lined with 1000 kawazu-cherry blossom trees. Along the railroad besides cherry blossoms, rape flowers are also blooming at the same time, and you can enjoy the colorful scenery and first smells of spring.
During the festival period, a special tent village will be set up in front of Miura Kaigan Station to sell Miura’s special products such as local fresh vegetables and Dai Nippon Shochu.
Head for Miura Kaigan station on the Tokyu line (about 1.5 hours from central Tokyo)
