On Saturday, December 12th, Ian o’Brien, an artist who has made many illustrious achievements over the past 25 years since his debut in 1995, is coming back to Shibuya DJ BAR KOARA.

Ian o’Brien’s music, which boldly interweaves jazz elements with Detroit techno led by artists like Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Underground Resistance (UR), Jeff Mills, etc., is captivating and exquisite that can be called Hi-Tech Jazz.

Ian has released four solo albums, one DJ mix CD and two compilation albums, including “Desert Scores”, “A History Of Things To Come” and “Understanding Is Everything”. From techno to jazz, funk, electronica and ambient, Ian’s numerous works which embody a wide range of deep musicality are all highly reputed.

In addition to this, co-supervised with his ally Kirk Degiorgio, Ian o’Brien released the “The Soul Of Science” series trilogy, and released a compilation album from the noted “Abstract Funk Theory” series of Logic Records. Including remixes, he has worked on countless works.

Ian joined, as a guitarist and keyboardist, in the band project “Waves” led by Nobuhiko ’Ebizo’ Tanuma and Kuniyuki Takahashi, and the album “Encounter” which they recorded together and released in 2010 is one of the masterpieces that Ian was involved in.

In December 2019, Ian performed live with Gerald Mitchell, the leader of Los Hermanos and one of Detroit techno’s leading artists, and it was a hot topic for many music lovers.
