Japan’s alternative music scene is more vigorous than ever. “Night on the Planet !” features three of its most promising artists: Zantö lies somewhere between Japanese pop-rock, metal and rap. King Brothers, influenced by ska and garage rock, drive just as hard. Newcomers Triple Fire, with such eccentric titles as “Henna Ossan [Weird Old Man]” and “Jimi Hendrix Experience” evade genre — lead singer Yasunao Yoshida talk-sing-shouts over groovy instrumentals.
