Max’s Kansas City (1965-1981) was a legendary nightclub known for having a strong impact on all kinds of art and culture, including world music and fashion, and being the home of the Velvet Underground and the New York Dolls, as well as being the birthplace of the New York punk rock scene. This work is the first documentary that describes the history of this club. About eight years older than CBGB, this store was also a social gathering place for cultural figures such as artists, writers, actors, and musicians. Lou Reed, John Lennon and Mick Jagger often visited, and Sid Vicious also stood on the stage after the dissolution of the Pistols. It is a historically rare video work that looks back on the entire trajectory of this nightclub from its origin to its demise, with footage that will be unveiled for the first time by the stars who experienced that time firsthand.
Directed by music documentary virtuoso Danny Garcia.
