Hailing from Ireland, Joseph Walsh is a preeminent artist in sculptural furniture. Self-taught, Walsh has consistently challenged preconceptions of what art, sculpture and furniture can be throughout his 20 year career. With works in the collections of leading global institutions such as the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Museum of Art and Design in New York City, and the National Museum of Ireland, among others, Walsh is widely considered to be one of the leading furniture artist of his generation.
RINN, Walsh’s collaboration with Aoyama’s Yufuku gallery, marks the first time his signature oeuvre is displayed in its entirety in Asia. Rinn is a Gaelic word, which can be translated from the Irish language as a place, point or headland.
