There’s a poetic element to the strange weather phenomenon of the “sun shower,” where rain falls from a clear sky and totally opposite elements are suddenly blended. Southeast Asia has a long history of colonial occupation and the multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-faith consequences that come with that, which is powerfully reflected in its contemporary art. Presented at two different art museums, this exhibit showcases the dynamism that has characterised Southeast Asia art since the 1980s.
