This year the Tokyo Marathon will take place on March 3rd 2019.
Tokyo Marathon is an incredibly popular marathon with 38,000 runners taking part.
Entry for the 2019 Tokyo Marathon has now closed but it is an excellent day out in the city to support those taking part and to talk about future plans to get in better shape yourself.
There are a wide range of events taking place as part of Tokyo marathon week to get people excited about the main event and also to raise awareness of the “Day we unite”.
On the main day of the marathon there is also a 10km race for 500 participants. These are the routes:
Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building — Iidabashi — Kanda — Nihombashi — Asakusa Kaminarimon — Ryogoku — Monzen-nakacho — Ginza — Takanawa — Hibiya –Tokyo Station/Gyoko-dori Ave. (This course is certified by the JAAF and AIMS/IAAF .)
2. 10km Race:
Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building — Iidabashi — Kanda — Nihombashi
(Results are considered unofficial. Finishing place is determined by net time.)
As well as being a fun event to take part in or to spectate it is also a qualifying event for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
