The Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum is holding the fourth Ueno Artist Project “Experiencing the World of Japanese Contemporary SHO,” exploring the art of Japanese artists active in the art of calligraphy, such as Enokura Koson and Oka Michiko. The exhibition delves into one of the most traditional Japanese art forms – calligraphy and shodo. First launched in 2017 the annual “Ueno Artist Project” is an exhibition to showcase and celebrate up-and-coming contemporary artists under different themes each year.

Opening hours: 9.30am – 5.30pm

Costs: ¥500 for general entry, ¥300 for seniors over 65
