In 2015, to coincide with the Rugby World Cup being held in England, Oxford University held the first ever World University Rugby Invitation Tournament (WURIT). It was intended to inspire and bring the significance of rugby at the university level to the foreground, showing off its significance to the world, as well as paving the way for a new age of not only university rugby but sport in general. In September 2019, after taking the torch from Oxford University, Waseda University will hold the next World University Rugby Invitation Tournament! This will also coincide with the Rugby World Cup being held in Tokyo next year! In order to create a tournament that will help unite all the universities together, we will be putting our all into this!
The dates for the matches are Monday 16th September 2019 to Thursday 25th September 2019.
Tickets are planned to be free but VIP tickets are being made available via crowdfunding. This crowdfunded money will be put towards making some special events for the visiting players that come from overseas, as well as making an event for the players to interact with the local children.
