Bilingual Social Media Manager / Content Creator 
  • We are looking for a bilingual (Japanese and English) Content Creator to create, manage, strategize for and run various types of content platforms for our brand and our clients’ websites, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn pages.
  • Part-time (3 days per week) with the potential to become full-time 

About Metropolis 

Metropolis is one of the best sources of information about Japan, having provided incredible content to the international community, both locally in Tokyo and internationally for over 28 years. We are currently seeking highly experienced, talented social media managers and content creators to work with our in-house and client media platforms, including Instagram, websites, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube. 

The right candidate MUST fulfill the following criteria:

  • Proficient (ideally fluent) in Japanese reading, writing, and business conversation 
  • Fluency in English writing, reading and speaking 
  • Proficient photography/videography skills
  • Based in Tokyo, or with solid plans to move to Tokyo in the near future 
  • Solid experience working with various social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube etc)
  • Exceptional at working with clients to provide advice on building and managing their social media 
  • Have experience with digital publishing and generating traffic and leads for businesses — in both Japanese and English.
  • Have experience planning content schedules and posting on social media for our brand and client media
  • Strategizing, presenting and implementing effective social media campaigns to achieve concrete, measurable result.
  • Strong ability to create and implement successful social media strategies for higher engagement, growth and conversion
  • Travel, tourism and food writing/ content creation experience in Japan 
  • Experience working with government agencies or clients 
  • Ready to explore Tokyo and Japan with our team to attend events and trips 
  • Diligent, organized analytical and self-motivated individual 
  • Creative, forward-thinking, open-minded, supportive team-player
  • Experience with Canva, social media scheduling tools (such as Canva, Hootsuite, Buffer etc…)
  • Tech-savvy, with confidence using WordPress, Adobe and Google Sheets 
  • Experience producing marketing copy to advertise client products and service
  • Comfortable writing blog posts and article posts about industry-related topics if needed

– Work closely with clients and our in-house editorial team to build effective strategies and plans to produce content (social media, blog posts, online articles, webpage content).
– Research industry-related topics.
– Translate content between English and Japanese.
– Prepare well-structured content calendars using digital publishing platforms.
– Edit and proofread work before publication.
– Develop and implement effective social media strategies.
– Promote content on social networks and monitor engagement (e.g. comments and shares).
– Identify clients’ and in-house editorial team’s needs and recommend new strategies and content.
– Coordinate with marketing and design teams.
-Provide clear monthly reports tracking progress and wins.
Requirements and Skills
– Proven work experience as a Content Creator, Social Media Manager, or similar role.
– Fluency in Japanese and English with impeccable grammatical accuracy.
– Portfolio of published articles / social media content examples.
– Hands-on experience with Content Management Systems (e.g. WordPress).
– Impeccable writing, proofreading and editing skills in English and Japanese.
– An ability to fact-check long-form content pieces.
– Familiarity with SEO.
– Tokyo-based and able to visit clients and commute to our office (Roppongi).
