Katsushika Hokusai × Keisai Eisen — A Contest of Allure

Apr 04, 2026 at 11:00am ~ May 31, 2026 at 9:00pm

The exhibition, “A Contest of Allure,” focuses on two master ukiyo-e (Japanese woodblock print painting) artists: Katsushika Hokusai (1760–1849), renowned worldwide, and Keisai Eisen (1791–1848), who developed his own distinct aesthetic while influenced by Hokusai.

Through their works, the exhibition explores contrasting expressions of sensuality, Hokusai’s bold and dynamic vision, and Eisen’s decadent and refined allure.

Approximately 100 works from the prestigious collection of Mitsuru Uragami will be on display. Among them, Hokusai’s iconic shunga masterpiece “Tako to Ama” (The Dream of the Fisherman’s Wife) will be exhibited for a limited time.

Alongside these works, seasonal ukiyo-e evoking the atmosphere of spring will also be presented.
