Bach Collegium Japan: Beethoven’s “9th”

The annual Bach Collegium Japan (BCJ) Saitama performance. This year, while the Sainokuni Saitama Arts Theater is closed for a long period of time, we will deliver Beethoven’s timeless masterpiece at the Saitama Kaikan.

Beethoven’s “9th” is a familiar tradition of the end of the year in Japan. BCJ’s “Ninth Symphony”, which pursues the instruments and performance style of the time it was composed, has a special resonance and has been performed many times since its premiere in January 2019, attracting many audiences. The CD of live recordings is also highly acclaimed.

Conducted by BCJ Chief Conductor Masato Suzuki. In addition to BCJ, he is attracting attention for his multifaceted activities as a conductor of modern orchestras, as a keyboard instrument player and composer for harpsichord, organ, piano, etc., and as a producer of concerts and music festivals. This year also, prior to the performance, the conductor will hold a lecture explaining the work. We will unravel the secret of “BCJ’s unique ninth”. Why don’t you take this opportunity to deepen your understanding of the work and enjoy the encounter with the “Ninth”, which is as fresh as a newborn after about 200 years?
