GCS Street Photography Showcase 2023

Feb 06, 2023 at 12:00am ~ Feb 12, 2023 at 11:59pm

Gallery Conceal is delighted to be putting on a street photography showcase by artists from around the world who are all currently based in Japan. It includes international as well as local Japanese photographers. All of the exhibitors are experienced street photographers and will feature their work mainly taken on the streets of Japan. It is an exciting opportunity to see how each artist approaches the medium of street photography using a variety of equipment including analogue film and digital. The location of this exhibition is Gallery Conceal which is conveniently located 10 minutes from Shibuya station.

This exciting collection of international artists all bring their own unique style and philosophy to their street photography in Japan and are exhibiting for the first time at Gallery Conceal.

Here are some brief artist profiles:

Alexander Munoz
@alexmunoz.foto
I’m Alexander Munoz, an American photographer based in Japan. I recently went to New York for my next photo project, “Escape to New York”. I hope in my photos you can see my love for people and history.

James Suarez
@jmssrz
UK-born street photographer based in Tokyo. Capturing nightlife, people and chaos, mixing analog and digital to showcase the beauty of the city.

Kaco
@bl_kaco
“Coloring an inorganic world”

Through the viewfinder, I express it as a single photo so as not to miss the “moment that stuck in my heart”.

As a student, I studied art in Kyoto.
A few years ago, I experienced a serious illness and lost the use of my limbs and even my voice, but I never lost interest in photography.
It is a miracle that I am here now.
And that you could see it in my eyes.

Luuvu Hoang
@film.byluuvu

Enjoys exploring the philosophy of life through different mediums. This 6 piece exhibition is an expression of that journey.

Jason Garcia
@jgarcia.film

Adam Benedicto
@benedan__

Takuma Misumi
@mismith0227
I take pictures of various genres, mainly street photography and portraits. I am active mainly in Kansai.

Jonny Dub
@jonnydub
Originally from Manchester but now living in Tokyo, Professional DJ turned street photographer Jonny Dub’s work tries to capture the beauty and intrigue of the real world around us.

Miho
@miho_108yashi
Street photography is unique and diverse.

The vividness and coincidence of the city and people, and the sights that will be recorded later may be the original attraction. But this time my photos are unrealistic with rain and light.I take pictures of towns and people as they are, but I prefer a less direct style of expression, as if I were creating photographs from images I have inside myself.I will exhibit 6 sheets of A3 size. Please come and take a look at the photos that breathe new life into the medium of “paper” from digital, not the small screen of Instagram!
