Suntory Hall Organ Promenade Concert

Suntory Hall Organ Promenade Concert

Oct 21, 2021 at 12:00pm ~ Oct 21, 2021 at 1:00pm

The Suntory Hall Organ Promenade Concert began 30 years ago on October 3, 1991. Since then, it has become a mainstay of the Japanese cultural calendar, playing a huge role in the classical music community.

Performing on the 30th anniversary is Hitoshi Mizuno who also played the inaugural event. Regarding this year’s performance, Mizuno says “the Suntory Hall organ is like a teacher to me, it has helped me to grow and develop as a performer. The tone of this organ has matured over the past 30 years and, after many years of using it, I have specifically selected three songs to perform this year that will showcase the it’s charm.”

The pieces that Mizuno will perform this year are: Marchan’s “Grand Dialogue by the 5th Mode” from Volume 3 of Organ Songs, F. Couplin’s “Sacra Corda: Tenor in Thiels” from Mass for the Monastery and JS Bach’s “Prelude and Fugue in E minor, BWV 548.”

The event is free to attend and view online with advance registration. Please visit the website for further details.
