THE HEROES Sword x Ukiyo-e

The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, one of the oldest museums in the United States, is also known for its collection of 50,000 high-quality ukiyo-e prints. In this exhibition, 118 masterpieces of samurai paintings depicting the figures of heroes appearing in ancient myths and military memoirs by Hishikawa Moronobu, Kuniyoshi Utagawa, Hiroshige Utagawa, etc. are carefully selected from the collection of the museum. 20 famous swords produced from the middle of the Heian period to the end of the Edo period will also be on display including the Yasutsuna sword and other Japanese national treasures and cultural properties.
