Blue Note Jazz: Cimafunk

Blue Note Jazz Club will host a week-long residency with Grammy-nominated Afro-Cuban artist Cimafunk, who the godfather of Funk George Clinton has referred to as “the one” and Chucho Valdes credits for musically “uniting Afro-Cuban and African American.” The run of shows will take place during Hispanic Heritage Month and feature a variety of iconic special guests including Valdes, Pedrito Martinez and Big Freedia.

Cimafunk’s shows have received widespread praise touring the US and Europe, including words from Rolling Stone, Variety, and Grammy.com. His latest album, El Alimento, was nominated at the 2023 GRAMMY Awards for Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album. He is also slated to perform at BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn on August 3. Cimafunk is redefining contemporary Cuban music, Afro-Latin identity and the fusion of Black cultures.
