New Year at Kanasana Shrine

New Year’s special prayers will be held at the following times. (The same times apply for the distribution of amulets, talismans, etc. at the counter.)

　January 1st 8:30-17:00 (15-20 minute intervals)
　January 2nd 9:00-16:00 (15-20 minute intervals)
　January 3rd 6:00-16:00 (15-20 minute intervals)
　From January 4th onwards: 9:00-16:00 (every 30 minutes)

*Prayers for traffic safety, including car purification, will be held until the 30th of this year, but will begin in February in the new year.
*Prayers for the first shrine visit will be suspended from New Year’s Eve to January 15th.

Prayers will be held in the shrine building, which has seating for about 40 people.
Depending on the situation, entrance to the temple may be limited to those receiving prayers.

*New Year’s special prayers (3,000 yen) will be held from New Year’s Day until the 7th, just as they were before the coronavirus pandemic. Prayers after January 8th will be available as usual (starting from 5,000 yen).

Applications can be made at the shrine office.
Reservations can also be made online (up to two days in advance)
