Korean-American actor and artist, Joseph Lee, will hold his first-ever solo exhibition in partnership with the Diesel Art Gallery entitled “Pleasure in the Pathless Woods” from September 23 to November 16. Known for his idiosyncratic style of portraiture and recent shift from figures to nature. This exhibition reflects the experience of fear, surprise and bliss that came from the solitude of an empty forest showed him the way to a new world of work.

The title “Pleasure in the Pathless Woods” is taken from a line by George Gordon Byron’s Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage. The pleasure in the Pathless Woods reveals a dazed moment through the ambiguous and vague intentions of the subject. It is an invitation to pause at that moment and reflect on the path one has taken and the path one must take. It can be a moment of escape, growth, realization and more. This exhibition encourages viewers to feel and see the joys and surprises of the depth of unspoken connection and unexpected growth.

Lee made this exhibition in such a way that we have a greater grasp of how small we are in relation to the forces of nature that surround us. This exhibition is an artistic experience of ease and humility, as well as peace. He wishes for you to let free and surrender to unexpected moments.
