Pola Museum: From Monet to Richter
Apr 09, 2022 at 9:00am ~ Sep 06, 2022 at 5:00pm
2022 is the year of the 20th anniversary of the Pola Museum of Art. While it is known for its excellent collection of classic art, collected by Tsuneji Suzuki over the forty years following World War 2, in recent years the museum has been focussed on expanding its contemporary art collection which races the development of art from the 20th century until now. This exhibition will be the first opportunity to introduce its classic collection and the contemporary works collected in recent years.
Centered around the theme of “light,” this exhibition will compare and contrast the usage of light by impressionist painters such as Claude Monet with that of contemporary artists such as Gerhard Richter and Cerith Wyn Evans. In this exhibition, Pola will introduce the “present” of the collection, and explore the future of the museum and its potential.
