Hands On Tokyo is a non-profit organization dedicated to making meaningful contributions to local communities in Tokyo. All of their volunteer activities are accessible to both Japanese and English speakers and they host a variety of events where you have the chance to make a change!

Because of the war, around 2,200 people have evacuated from Ukraine and are currently living in Japan. In the effort of supporting them in any way possible, Hands On Tokyo has been holding a “Japanese language” program for people living in Tokyo.

The NPO is now planning a “Japanese Home Cooking Project” to bring together Ukrainian evacuees and Japanese people through food. This volunteer event is perfect for anyone who wants to share their culinary skills and teach people how to make simple Japanese dishes! Hands On Tokyo is asking for caring volunteers who can invite evacuees into their homes and teach them to make some classic meals like niku-jaga (meat and potatoes), yakisoba, okonomiyaki, hand-rolled sushi, etc.
