About the artist
Marmenlind is a Swedish writer and illustrator based in Tokyo, Japan. Whether it be through printed words or strokes of a brush her work always call for attention to social issues witnessed in contemporary society. Where law and media fails to with respect include people and their lived experiences, the art steps in.
Marmenlind is educated in arts and journalism at Waseda University, Japan, and Seoul National University, South Korea.
About the venue
Shinjuku Dialogue is a café built on the concept of togetherness, welcoming people of all nationalities, sexualities and genders. During daytime the café serves food, desserts and drinks from a plant based menu. In the evening the space turns into a bar open until 20:00. With the Sustainable Developmental Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations in mind, the café gives a portion of their income to various funds and organizations in order to support initiatives related to equality and environment.
The third floor is dedicated to events. Forums and discussions on LGBTQ+ rights and issues are regularly held here.
