Whether it was the hot dry air of Texas or the cool damp winds of Cape Cod where they recorded Shields, Brooklyn indie folk band Grizzly Bear’s latest album is their most cohesive and successful yet. It’s been three years since Veckatimest first brought the group to Japan, and Shields finds vocalists Ed Droste and Daniel Rossen in an expansive mood on songs such as “Sleeping Ute” and “Gun-Shy.” Already headlining the likes of Radio City Music Hall in the States, fans in Japan get the pleasure of witnessing them in far cozier, if less regal confines.
