“12 Time Sanbaso” with Thick&Tight and Noh performer

A festival space of another dimension has now appeared in Tokyo, “12 Time Sanbaso” a surprising collaboration between the LGBTQ+ dance duo Thick&Tight and a Noh performer, is merging the Japanese festival dance “Sanbaso” with British contemporary dance.

The triumphant return performance, held in London in June 2022, received overwhelming applause from the audience. It’s a collaboration between the Noh classic “Sanbaso” and British dance. In fact, october”Sanbaso” is an old Japanese dance that traditionally represents a prayer for world peace and a bountiful harvest, a tradition passed down since ancient times in Japan. This contemporary British dance is characterized by the use of two pipes, a small drum, and a large drum. In the middle part of the performance, the two pipes divide into eight beats and six beats and create a cross-rhythm. Thick & Tight expresses the British harvest prayer and performs a lively festive dance to the rhythm of Noh music.

This classical dance is transformed into a 12-time Sanbaso dance inspired by flamenco by Yukihiro Ichiso. The performance will be on October 31 at the Tesenkai Noh Training Institute. Tickets are now on sale at Confetti
