Pace Tokyo presents Robert Nava’s first solo exhibition in Japan at its Tokyo gallery, featuring new paintings and works on paper created between 2023 and 2026. The exhibition introduces Nava’s vivid world of fantastical creatures and hybrid beings, where energetic color and playful imagery coexist with darker psychological undertones, blurring the boundaries between figuration and abstraction.

Robert Nava (born in 1985, East Chicago, Indiana) is known for large-scale paintings and works on paper marked by gestural intensity and deliberate naivete. His work has been exhibited internationally and is held in major public collections including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Musée d’Art Moderne, Paris, LACMA, and the Hirshhorn Museum.
