Daikon Radish Festival 2026

Jan 07, 2026 at 11:00am ~ Jan 07, 2026 at 11:30pm

Radishes are loved by everyone as a clean, mild-tasting food, and because they have the ability to neutralize toxins in the body and aid digestion, they are revered as representing the “power” of Shoden and are considered an essential offering in memorial services to Shoden.

By receiving these hand-me-downs, we receive the virtues of Bodhisattva Shoden and are able to obtain good health for both body and mind.

Therefore, since 1974, our temple has held a Daikon Radish Festival every year on the seventh day of the New Year, during which the daikon radishes that have been offered to the principal image since New Year’s Day are fried and cooked, and are served to all visitors along with sacred sake.

Please feel free to come along (limited to 2,000 meals).
