“Dusk” Presented by Perrotin Tokyo
Jan 17, 2025 at 5:00pm ~ Mar 22, 2025 at 7:00pm
Swedish artist Sigrid Sandström will present her first solo exhibition, “Dusk,” January 17th to March 22nd.
Inspired by her childhood, wherein the oaks, alders and pines that surrounded her family’s cabin — isolated on a roadless lot, without electricity or running water — played a major role, “Dusk” is a series of paintings featuring the theme of light, how it both illuminates and obliterates, drawing parallels to another work of similar theme which Sandström was attracted to: Junichiro Tanizaki’s “In Praise of Shaows,” an essay published in 1933 which questions the role of light and shadow.
In celebration of the exhibits opening, a private cocktail event will be held.
The exhibit will be held at Perrotin Tokyo, Tuesday through Saturday, 11am to 7pm.
