Perrotin Tokyo is pleased to present “Cherries Bloom in April,” the first solo exhibition in Japan by German artist Gregor Hildebrandt, from April 3 to June 21, 2025.
Exhibition Highlights
Taking its title from a little-known 1980s song by Konstantin Wecker, Hildebrandt’s work reflects on rebirth and creative awakening through poetic visual language. The exhibition includes new works made from red cassette leader tape, rare archival materials and signature pieces involving vinyl and magnetic media.
Highlights include a red tape series inspired by the theme of cherry blossoms, a sculptural homage to Gustave Courbet and pieces referencing German music and personal memory. Through distinctive rip-off and transfer techniques, Hildebrandt creates a tactile, analog experience of art rooted in emotion and sound.
