Japan International Boat Show 2022
Mar 31, 2022 at 12:00am ~ Apr 03, 2022 at 11:59pm
The Japan Marine Enterprises Association (JMIA) held a press conference in Tokyo on March 1 to announce the outline of the Japan International Boat Show 2022 (March 31 – April 3, Pacifico Yokohama, Yokohama Bayside Arena and other venues).
The Japan Marine Equipment Association is an industry organization consisting of manufacturers, maintainers, distributors, and related businesses of motorboats, yachts, PWCs, marine engines, and related equipment. Also, due to the expansion of yacht fishing enthusiasts, the opportunity to ride and operate mini boats that do not require a boat exemption certificate and inspection is provided to spread the appeal of marine recreation.
The Japan International Boat Show is one of the largest marine events in Japan and aims to promote and expand the understanding of marine leisure and deepen interest in the sea. The first event was held in 1962, more than sixty years ago however, it was canceled in 2020 due to the spread of COVID-19, and in 2021 the event was held in both real and virtual venues. This year’s event will be held at two real venues, Pacifico Yokohama and Yokohama Bayside Marina as well as online.
The theme and concept for 2022 are “the sea, here is the entrance to your dreams” and “the mutual integration of reality, land and sea” with this year’s event aiming to highlight the complementary nature of reality, land and sea to showcase the charm of marine leisure and the sea to ocean lovers around the world.
The venue’s activities will be divided into indoor and outdoor sessions. Indoors there will be exhibitions, theatrical events and workshops, while outdoors there will be floating exhibitions and various hands-on programs and activities for the public to see and experience sailing. On site at pacific, there will be 20 talks for beginners and experienced sailors, including ‘The appeal of marine photography,’ ‘How to select and sharpen a knife,’ ‘How to use weather apps wisely’ and ‘DIY desert island sailing plans.’ The ‘Marine Kids Program’ will also offer a range of workshops for parents and children such as rope work experience and designing posters about the sea. All ages, adults and children alike will be able to enjoy the outdoor marine sports at the venue.
