Leave Blank: Marc Aziz Ressang’s Tokyo Debut
Mar 29, 2025 at 2:00pm ~ Apr 11, 2025 at 7:00pm
UltraSuperNew is excited to present “Leave Blank”, a solo exhibition by Marc Aziz Ressang, from March 29 to April 11, 2025. This will be the artist’s first solo exhibition in Tokyo, showcasing a mixed media project originally denied a public viewing in China.
Exhibition Highlights
“Leave Blank” explores the phenomenon of hypernormalization in Shanghai’s older urban landscape. Inspired by the traditional Chinese painting technique of “liubai” (the intentional use of negative space), the exhibition examines the impact of censorship and the possibility of artistic resistance. The project was created in collaboration with 32 China-based creators and reflects the idea that there is still room for creativity despite limitations.
Marc Aziz Ressang presents a series of mixed media works that blur the line between photographic truth and creative reality. The exhibition explores how urban spaces, political boundaries and artistic freedom intersect in modern Shanghai.
Opening Party
An opening party will be held on March 28, 2025 (Friday) from 7pm to 9pm at UltraSuperNew KURA. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the artist and preview the works.
