Naoki Honjo: (Un)real Utopia
Mar 19, 2022 at 10:00am ~ May 15, 2022 at 6:00pm
Honjo Naoki is a photographer known for his unique style of shooting cities like a diorama with tilt-shift photography using a 4 x 5 camera. His work, like a miniature world, questions us what reality and fiction about our world are, and at the same time, conveys us his warm, loving gaze on the cities and people there.
This first large-scale solo exhibition of Honjo’s presents approximately 200 works including the Kimura Ihei Award winner “small planet” series, the African savannah themed “kenya” series, and the “tohoku 311” series taken three months after the Great East Japan Earthquake. New works which capture the landscapes of Iwate prefecture will also on display for the first time. We hope you will enjoy the wonders of our city through the eyes of Honjo.
This exhibition will be held at Iwate Museum of Art from October 16th (Sat) to November 28th (Sun) 2021 and from March 19th (Sat) to May 15th (Sun), 2022 at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography.
