Nezu Azalea Shrine Festival

Nezu Shrine Azalea Festival 2026

Apr 01, 2026 at 9:30am ~ Apr 20, 2026 at 5:30pm

The Nezu Shrine Azalea Festival transforms one of Tokyo’s oldest shrines into a colorful spring destination. Located in Bunkyo, Nezu Shrine is known for its traditional architecture and peaceful atmosphere. During the festival, the grounds come alive with bright pink, red and white azaleas that bloom across landscaped slopes.

Visitors can walk through designated garden paths to enjoy different varieties of azaleas at their peak. Because the blooming period varies slightly by type, the scenery changes throughout April, making repeat visits worthwhile. The Nezu Azalea Shrine Festival typically reaches peak bloom between April 10 and April 20, when the hillside is at its most vibrant.

The garden is open daily from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, with a small admission fee required for entry. It is recommended to visit earlier in the day to avoid crowds, especially on weekends and public holidays.
