Takanawa Light Journey

Experience TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY’s first-ever projection mapping event, “Takanawa Light Journey,” running from February 5 to February 11, 2026. Held at Gateway Park in front of Takanawa Gateway Station, this immersive three-dimensional production uses light, sound, and synchronized fountains to depict the area’s past, present, and a vision of 100 years into the future. The event features “Moving Mirror technology”—a first in Japan—to create a dynamic “time-traveling experience” that traces the evolution of mobility from steam engines to future maglev trains.

The program includes two main works: “Time Voyage – A Light Path of Memories,” which follows the history of Takanawa through the journey of a single ticket, and “The Takanawa,” an artistic piece forged from actual environmental sounds and videos of the area. Visitors can also walk through the “Luminous Gateway,” a corridor of light and smoke that transforms the venue’s pathway into a three-dimensional stage. Showtimes occur daily every 30 minutes between 18:00 and 20:30, offering a calming, nature-filled escape in the heart of the city
