Kyodo-no-Mori Plum Blossom Festival (Ume Matsuri)

Jan 31, 2026 at 9:00am ~ Mar 08, 2026 at 8:00pm

Kyodo-no-Mori, an open-air museum in western Tokyo, offers a quieter alternative for early spring flower viewing. The grounds are home to around 1,300 plum trees across 120 varieties, including red and white plums and weeping plums lining the hillside near the grand staircase.

Plum blossoms typically begin to open in late January, with peak viewing around mid-February, depending on weather conditions. During the season, visitors can enjoy evening illuminations on select dates, tea ceremonies with matcha and sweets, and occasional cultural performances, all set against the museum’s historic buildings.
