Australia’s Jolt Arts pushes the sound barrier in the first Japan edition of its Extremities International Sonic Festival. With its Aussie roots, the festival focuses on cutting-edge composers from Down Under. Among them is Robin Fox [pictured], whose Laser Show synchronizes lasers and audio in an aggressive multimedia onslaught. Also to perform is Aussie sonic art guru Philip Brophy, who turns pop music videos inside out in his “Evaporated Music” series. Japanese avant-gardistas from dancer Yoko Higashino to mercurial drummer Ryusaku Ikezawa join the proceedings, with the results sure to be unpredictable.
