About Metropolis
Metropolis is one of the best sources of information about Japan, having provided incredible content to the international community, both locally in Tokyo and internationally for over 30 years. We are currently seeking experienced, talented freelance writers to share their unique insights on the best that Japan has to offer.
Scope:
- Submit at least one monthly Tokyo Neighborhoods Guide article based on a predecided list of neighborhoods to explore.
- Visit the neighborhood and explore!
- Cover topics of best recommended spot, as well a hidden gems.
- Take landscape photographs of various areas and places you write about.
- Periodically update previous articles in the Tokyo Neighborhood Guide series articles to ensure accuracy and information is up to date.
You could be the right candidate for us if you are:
- Fluent in written English
- An experienced travel writer with a strong portfolio working with established media platforms
- Based in Tokyo
- Have Japanese skills, preferably fluent or proficient business-level
- Able to work with our editors to meet article deadlines
- Are able to commit to a monthly publishing cadence
- Have impeccable grammar
- Provide examples of previously published articles from reputable sites, preferably related to Japan
- Familiar with, or willing to learn, AP Style
- Have a Japanese bank account (not Post Office) or PayPal
