Tokyo instrumental rock trio Liquid makes music you might hear “at a used clothing shop.” This is not to say their music is threadbare. Instead, guitarist Iga, bassist Katsumi and drummer Kosuke aim for the kind of warm, retro feel you might get by throwing on a pair of old jeans. Already in action for almost a decade, the trio just dropped its first album on respected indie imprint 3rd Stone. We Are Liquid recalls the Woodstock spirit, with liberal dollops of Jimi Hendrix fuzz box guitars and James Gang funk-rock jams. They debut the album in a gig at storied live house 251 in rock hub Shimokitazawa.
